Hermès Oran Sandals Vs. Gucci GG Cut-Out Leather Slides

Brighton Butler hermes sandals review

Maybe one of my most requested product reviews is for the Hermès Oran Sandal… more specifically how they compare to the Gucci cut-out slides. The Hermès sandals are classic and have actually been around since 1997, but they’ve gained a ton of popularity in the last several years. In fact, because they’re so popular, tons of brands have created dupes of these sandals — many of which look nearly identical.

I own a couple of similar styles to the Hermès Oran Sandal, and I still reach for the real thing any time I’m looking for a classic brown sandal. In my opinion, they are just a notch above any other lookalike in my closet (if you can’t tell by the price point).

So are these sandals worth the hefty price tag? And if I had to do it all over again, would I buy these sandals, the Gucci slides, or both? I’m going to share my honest review and comparison of both sandals so you can get an idea for yourself! First, let’s focus on the Hermès sandals.

Hermès

Oran Sandal

These sandals have been my go-to option for years and years now. Believe it or not, they have actually been around for 25 years, and tons of brands have made dupes of the famous sandals. But in my opinion, there is nothing that compares to the real deal.

What Is Sizing Like For the Hermès Oran Sandals?

In my opinion, these run perfectly true to size. I usually go up half a size when buying sandals no matter what brand I’m getting because I don’t like my foot to hang off the sole at all. I also read some reviews when buying these sandals that said people with wider feet should definitely go up half a size.

Do the Hermès Oran Sandals Stretch Out?

The more I’ve worn these sandals, the more relaxed the leather has become. That’s caused a little bit of stretch to the overall sandal, but honestly not enough to impact the sizing. If anything, I’d say they’ve just become more comfortable!

Are They Actually Comfortable?

Yes! I can honestly say these are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. It does take a few wears to really get them worn in, but once you do, they’re so good. I’ve worn them all day long before on days where I knew I’d be on my feet a lot and my feet felt great at the end of the day.

What Is the Cost of the Hermès Oran Sandals?

The most popular style of this sandal, which comes in four different colors, is available for $660. If you want a mixed material syle, they can run more than $1,000.

Are the Hermès Oran Sandals Worth the Cost?

This is a tough question to answer because everyone’s budget is different. I knew I was going to splurge on these sandals, but after reading a ton of reviews and knowing how high quality these sandals are, it was worth it to me. Since these sandals have been around for close to 25 years, they’re classic and will never go out of style.

Plus, I try to think about how many times I will wear a more expensive item and I’m usually able to justify the cost per wear. If you’ve got a tighter budget, you can also find some very similar styles here and here.

Where Can I Buy the Hermès Oran Sandals?

If you’re looking for a brand new pair of these sandals, you’ll want to shop directly on the Hermès website. You can find some really great secondhand options on sites like Fashionphile. Occasionally, you can find a pair on sites like Poshmark as well, but it can be tough to know whether they’re authentic or not, so I definitely recommend sticking with a site that will certify authenticity.

Hermès Oran Sandals Vs. Gucci GG Cut-Out Leather Slides

brighton butler gucci cut-out sandals

The Gucci CC Cut-Out Leather Slides are some of the most popular sandals of the summer. So, what are the comparisons to the Oran Sandals? And would I choose them over the classic Hermès sandal? Here are my thoughts about the two sandals, including which I would buy if I could only get one pair:

What’s the cost difference between the Hermès Oran Sandals and the Gucci GG Cut-Out Leather Slides?

As I said, the cost of the Oran sandals will vary depending on the specific style you choose, but if you want the original style, the cost of the two sandals is very similar. The Hermès Oran sandals are $700 brand new on their website, while you can get the Gucci slides for $660.

Are the Hermès Oran Sandals and the Gucci GG Cut-Out Leather Slides the same color?

Both sandals come in a variety of colors. I own the brown color in both (technically, it’s “gold” for the Hermes sandals and “cuir” for the Gucci slides) because it works better with what I have in my closet. But the color is actually exactly the same in person, even though they look a little different online.

Are the Hermès Sandals or the Gucci Slides more comfortable?

The Hermès sandals are more comfortable than the Gucci Slides, hands down. The Gucci slides are more structured and the leather is harder, while the Hermès sandals sort of mold to your foot… especially after you’ve worn them quite a bit. I’ve had mine for years now and they’re some of the most comfortable shoes I own.

Are the Gucci Slides worth the splurge?

This is just my opinion, but I don’t think they’re worth the splurge. Don’t get me wrong, I really like them… but $600 is a lot for sandals, and I don’t wear them as often as I thought I would. This is a super specific complaint, but the Gucci logo on the sandals kind of clashes with any prints I wear because there’s just a lot going on. I love having the option of both sandals, but if you’re trying to decide between the two, I recommend the Hermès Oran Sandals.
