It’s officially coat season! I love breaking out all my fall and winter clothes. Even though I’ve owned the pieces for years, it always fun to see my fall clothes hung in my closet. It makes me excited to get dressed in the morning. One of those pieces is the J.Crew coatigan. J.Crew calls it a collarless sweater-blazer, but it’s heavier and more structured than a typical sweater, so I like calling it a coatigan (half cardigan, half coat).

I purchased it years ago and wear it every season. The length, style and color is classic. It is easy to layer with so many different types of outfits: dresses, jeans, workwear, and leggings. It also worked great for pregnancy! I was pregnant during the fall and winter, so it came in very handy on colder days. The weight of the coatigan is slightly heavier than a typical cardigan. It’s perfect for a chilly fall day or a mild winter day.

Originally it only came in black and tan (the color I own), but it is now available in multiple colorways. Last year, they came out with a plaid color way that I just had to get. It is perfect for the winter season. J.Crew hasn’t released any of their holiday colors yet, but I’ll be sure to share if/when they do. The tan color is my favorite. It is the perfect color for fall. And a great neutral to pair with any outfit.

The coatigan is a great staple for any closet that will last for years to come. The quality is awesome. The style is timeless. And the ways to style it are endless.
