The Skincare Products You Need in Your Life for Summer

I’m no skin expert (definitely not a beauty blogger over here!) but I will say that by working with brands and experimenting more lately, I have gotten more knowledgeable about skincare. I used to know literally NOTHING and now I’m at least interested in ingredients, a routine, and switching up my beauty products season by season – which is what I wanted to talk about with y’all today!

The weather in Dallas has been legit CRAZY this week, but normal summer weather will be here soon (I hope?). Which means hot days, dry air, and skin that needs a specific type of attention. If you’re not switching up products by now, I’d suggest starting now. In summer, your skin needs lighter products that still provide hydration but won’t clog you up (as opposed to really thick creams for winter), your makeup needs help staying on with sweat or humidity, you need to get rid of sunscreen buildup, and so on.

In my ongoing obsession with Tula Skincare, I’m partnering up with the brand to share some of my fave products of the season. As always, I seriously LOVE their products and can’t recommend them enough! Here are some items I suggest grabbing for your summer beauty bag.

So Polished Exfoliating Sugar Scrub

If y’all haven’t heard of Tula’s So Polished Exfoliating Sugar Scrub, get to know it ASAP! I love love love using it a couple times a week gently on my face (byeeee dead, dull skin and hello bright skin without any makeup!).

It’s literally become my favorite part of the shower as that’s when I usually apply it – I just keep it right on my shower shelf. It’s amazing for buffing off dead skin, hydrating, and leaving your skin seriously the softest ever (even the boy noticed). Also, it’s made with papaya and pineapple so it basically leaves you smelling like a fruit smoothie and I’m totally OK with that! Y’all will love this and can thank me later k?

Pro tip: I find this is AMAZING on my face after I’ve been on vacation or wearing a lot of heavy sunscreen/makeup. It’s like a fresh start for your complexion!

Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer

The thing I enjoy most about summer makeup is wearing less of it. I honestly never wear TOO much face makeup no matter the weather, but in summer, I wear even less. And need less if I’m doing it right! Which is why I’ve been using a primer for a while now. If there’s one thing you take from this article, it’s THAT YOU NEED A PRIMER PEOPLE! It’s not just an extra step in the makeup/skincare process (like I used to think) – it’ll actually make your process quicker. How? Well gosh, lemme tell you!

By the way, you need a high-quality, multi-tasking primer, like Tula’s brand new and fancy Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer! Basically, I can’t speak to the quality of most primers on the market, but if you’re using Tula’s, I can tell you how it’s going to make your routine quicker/better/prettier/all the things! Tula designed this primer to work more like a skincare product vs. makeup, so it actually improves your skin every time you wear it. GENIUS right? Now that that’s out of the way, let me tell you why I love this primer so much and why you need to be using it…

First of all, unless you’re new here, you know I struggle hard with the red nose syndrome (it’s not really a syndrome but it’s a serious problem in my world). This primer is made with turmeric which actually decreases the appearance of redness & inflammation. PRAISE BE. And it actually works to lessen redness in general overtime which is really freaking cool if you’re wanting more than a quick fix – which I am.

Also, another huge perk of Face Filter is that this causes you to wear less face makeup (think concealer, foundation, etc.) because it literally filters your face. It’s seriously like putting the botox filter from Instagram on your face and I freaking love it. I actually rarely even use other face makeup when I’m wearing this (especially during the day), and if anything, I’ll put a little concealer under my eyes if I’m wearing eye makeup. But the primer is perfection for regular summer days when you want your skin to breathe while still having slight coverage, you know?

Moral of the story, this magical primer is totally essential to your summer makeup/skincare routine and basically forever in life.

Glow Essentials Kit

I was going to talk about a couple of these products individually but then I realized Tula make this kit including each of them + a couple other fun items. (That’s another thing I love about Tula – their kits are SO COOL and a great gift for someone in your life or if you want to sample products.) Again, since I like to wear less makeup in the summer, I’m alway slooking for skincare products that can kinda eliminate the need for X makeup product.

My under eyes are one of the first areas to show that I’m tired (like most people) or that I haven’t been taking care of myself properly. And while I do wear concealer when I need it, I appreciate skincare products that can give the undereye area some love and potentially nix the need for makeup. If you’re the same, you’ve gotta try Tula’s Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm! It does what it says – cools (aka depuffs) the eye area and adds SO much brightness to that area. It actually adds on a couple of hours of fake sleep to my face every time I apply it, plus it feels so dang good. It’s kinda like using a jade roller without having to roll if that makes sense? Again, it saves time!

This kit also comes with Tula’s Major Glow Cooling & Brightening Hydrogel Mask (two of them!), which is similar to the eye balm in that it cools, depuffs, and gives you a glow. Using the two products together in the morning is basically my favorite thing ever (+ quiet time and coffee). Especially before events or weddings in the summer!

This kit also comes with a full-size Purifying Cleanser, Illuminating Serum and a cute little makeup bag. Get one while they last! Speaking of, you can use my code BRIGHTON for 20% off your emtire order, so if you’re wanting to try any of these products, definitely use that.

Hope you found this article helpful, friends! Let me know if there’s a Tula product you love!
