Work Attire: Brights

Pants: 7FAM (similar cut, but different material) // Shirt: Dee Keller Design (sample) // Belt: J. Crew // Shoes: Dee Keller // Necklace: Anthropologie // Clutch: Zara // Watch: MK (old)

I’m well aware that one of the common stereotypes (not saying I agree!) for accountants is that [accountants] are number-crunching nerds who tend to struggle in the social department (false!) and most likely wouldn’t venture out past the gray/black/navy color family. Maybe I didn’t hit the nail on the head regarding “your” understanding of the CPA stereotype, but hopefully you’re picking up what I’m putting down. (ha! …on a role this morning with the expressions/cliches! bare with me!).

But like most stereotypes, I am thrilled to inform you that this couldn’t be further from the truth! However, I wouldn’t go as far to say that there’s unconventional, fashion-forward trend-setting going on in the office environment. But I bet you’d find more color and spunk than expected. Since I’m new to the “working world”, I’ve had to get a little creative in putting together outfits for work. I’m stalling on going on a work-clothing-shopping-spree because I would hate to spend my hard-earned (!) dollars on clothes that….just aren’t that exciting to purchase. (know what I mean?). Anyway, given this, I’ve tried to incorporate my everyday/normal clothing into my work attire, while doing my best to maintain a professional, presentable, and polished overall appearance, of course.

I promise the “lime”-ness of the shirt isn’t as blinding as it appears in these pictures! It was super overcast last week, so I guess the colors are just popping more than usual. What do you think? Do any of you do this as well? I’m hoping I won’t need to spend any money anytime soon on clothes I wouldn’t wear outside the office. But hey, maybe that’s unrealistic. I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it (ha! and again!).

note: I know I don’t need to have this disclaimer here, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry…right?! (…and another cliche!)  Anyway, my intention is to have a self-deprecating and playful tone when talking about stereotypes of accountants. I sincerely hope that you don’t find anything I’ve said to be offensive. As usual, I’m simply speaking my mind and writing what I know.

(I may or may not have searched: “CPA” in the search bar to see what you wrote about the profession)

I must say, I’m LOVING seeing your transition to the working world & how you’re incorporating everyday clothes. I’m currently student teaching & struggling each morning to find outfits. I’ve even had to separate my “going out” clothes from my “teacher clothes” so that I don’t waste any more time. I always find a good scarf will help with tops that may otherwise be a bit risque. This outfit is superb & I can’t wait to see how your mom’s line grows– I neeeeed that top.
