Black Sweater Dress + Check Blanket Scarf + Red Hunter Boots Fall Outfit

I love a good sweater dress – and I’ve been especially loving the sweater dress and blanket scarf combo lately.  Maybe it’s just me, but there’s just something about throwing on a sweater dress (or any simple/solid dress for that matter) that feels incomplete without some type of accessory. Anyone else agree? I feel like they just call for a necklace, vest, scarf or something…or else the outfit just looks unfinished. And in the case of this outfit, I went with one of my recent go-to blanket scarves since it was a little chilly.

If you live in the South, then you’re well aware that chilly temps during the winter time (or any time, really) are spotty at best. It’s completely normal for it to be 48 degrees (Fahrenheit) on Monday and then somehow jump all the way up to 80 degrees on Tuesday (like, literally out of nowhere – the humidity and heat hits ya in the face…#struggle). To put it simply, the weather is at the least unpredictable and so I’m never too quick to put away my fall/transitional pieces because I never know when I’ll need to pull them back out.

So this brings me to the key item in today’s post – the sweater dress. Although I’m sure there are cute ways one could style a sweater dress in polar-vortex-like weather, I’m not really up for that challenge and prefer to keep my sweater and long-sleeve swing dresses as transitional pieces. All that to say, I find sweater dresses to be the perfect option for those random warmer-ish days that we often get to enjoy (ha!) down here (in addition to mid-to-late Fall/transitional months).

As I’ve mentioned before, I especially love wearing dresses on those it’s-raining-outside-but-it’s-not-that-cold days with my hunter boots (like in this outfit above + this outfit from a few weeks ago).  Dear people of the South, you know those days, right?!
