OK, I’m really excited about this post because I love that the 90s are coming back! At first I was a little hesitant about it because whenever I’m watching a 90s teen movie I sometimes cringe at the style, but I think buttoned-up cardigans are going to be a really good comeback! Not to mention it’ll make for a really cute and easy fall outfit you can wear over and over again with different cardigans!

I feel like I’m getting a little ahead of myself, though. Let me back up and explain this trend really quick. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s literally just a regular cardigan that you’d normally layer over a cami or basic tee, but instead, you button it up! I have a feeling it’s seriously going to be everywhere this fall and winter.

When it comes to putting an outfit together, I think it looks best done with a good pair of high waist denim, a cropped cardigan and booties or mules. Speaking of mules, this pair is legit the most perfect pair for transitional weather. The color, the heel height, the pointed toe – I love it all!! But back to the cardigan! If you’re a little hesitant and don’t want to go full 90s, try the high waist jeans with a cropped cami instead with an open cardigan. Or, go for a more sweaterlike cardigan like this one. On the flip side, if you really want that 90s vibe, definitely go for a light knit cardigan like this one. And if the cardigan is a little long, give it a tuck. I personally love tucking things into anything high waisted!

I tried to link a variety of cardigans for you guys depending on how 90s you want to go, so hopefully there’s a little something for everyone! And if this trend ends up not being your thing, you’re really not out any money because you can just wear them like normal cardigans with the buttons open. Win-win, right?!
