I have officially found my favorite outfit for fall and it definitely involves a plaid “grandpa” blazer!! Blazers have and always will be a closet staple in my opinion, but there are so many great options this year. It’s like I can’t get on one website or go into a store without coming across another good one. I read that suiting is a MAJOR trend this season, so I think we should expect to see even more blazers, trousers and vests. I’m not sure about suit vests, but I am 100% on board with sweater vests in case you missed it!
Anyway, let’s talk more about blazers, shall we?!
So, there are a few things I look for when shopping for a blazer. The first, that it fits just a bit oversized. I’m very particular about this because if it’s too tight, it can be hard to layer and then you can only wear sleeveless or very thin material options. And if it’s too oversized, it kind of just swallows me up and overwhelms me. I know the Gen Z thing is to wear very oversized everything but I just don’t love how that style looks on me.
The second thing I look for is a bit of interest! I love a good black blazer or tan option, but right now I really want something with a bit of interest. This could mean a plaid pattern like this Madewell option I’m wearing (which I believe is sold out and I’m SO sorry because it’s amazing!! I linked more options for you below!) or maybe a black and white or even a navy houndstooth. You know, something that will give the blazer a bit of dimension! It’s a great way to keep your outfit neutral yet interesting, I think. Plus everyone just gravitates towards a good blazer and I guarantee you’ll get compliments!
When it comes to styling a blazer, they’re incredibly versatile! You can easily throw it on with denim, a midi skirt, trousers for work, or even with leggings and a cute cropped top for a chic athleisure look! It will definitely be your most worn item this fall!
