Jewel tones have been an ongoing motif in the fashion world lately. Remember discussing how “Wine i s [or was?] the new black” back in the Fall? And in line with the wine-colored excitement(still love this sequin dress), we also had oxblood lips and burgundy/oxblood-colored jeans and such. And then came Pantone’s declaration/announcement that “Emerald Green” (first outfit post on btd)  was/is the color for THIS Spring. And although it officially made it’s trending debut in Fall 2011, we saw quite a bit of topaz (or mustard) yellow during the burgundy craze – a dynamic duo if you ask me! To trigger your memory, remember this photo of hannali (oh. em. gee. she’s perfect.)

Ok so moving ON to the subject at hand – today’s outfit. I know, there’s a LOT going on here. But I was kind of on a roll with the whole jewel tone theme. All I need is some emerald green to complete the palette (ha! now that would have been WAY too much). So remember when I told you about these tailored fit club monaco pants (and here) I discovered while working in Houston? Yeah, I liked them so much (or was just so thrilled they fit me!), I bought another pair. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s next to impossible for me to find nice (I’m good in the jeans department) pants that fit well and are flattering. And it’s not like these are perfect or anything, but they get the job done. My only complaint is that they stretch out super fast and have a lower rise that I would prefer. Pants with a high-waisted fit ALWAYS fit better for me, but they’re hard to find. Don’t you think?
