Have you noticed I’ve been on a bit of a jean skirt kick this summer? I don’t know why, but I’ve just become really partial to them and have been determined to bring them back. I remember when they used to be a huge thing back when I was in 7th grade. At my school, we hadn’t yet implemented uniforms (that happened in 9th grade), so we could still wear whatever we wanted (woo! free dress!) Anyway, I distinctly remember it being super cool to wear a denim skirt with tennis shoes. I’m not even joking. That was legit a thing.

But anyway, back to TODAY. I think the reason why I’ve been wearing them so much is because a skirt looks so much more polished than wearing denim shorts – something about my denim shorts always feels a little rough-around-the-edges to me. And plus, I think a denim skirt is typically more flattering. I’ve been loving the high-waisted style because it’s easy to do a simple front-tuck with an oversized blouse or tee and look put together.

Obviously I took these photos awhile ago because my hair is SO stinkin’ long. Speaking of, have you seen my haircut yet? It’s MUCH shorter and feels so amazing. You can see the shorter look in my previous post talking about how to be more professional.

I recently splurged on this Hermes belt and have been loving styling it so far this summer. Another favorite way I’ve worn it is with ALL white (I absolutely LOVE all white with cognac). Also – does anyone else feel like they HAVE to match their shoes to their belt when they wear one?

I’m not sure if it’s an official rule or anything (I know it is for guys tho…) but I feel like my outfit always looks unbalanced or just not coordinated when I don’t. I love how well these wedges (that were just restocked) match with the belt :) And I almost paired this look with my cognac handbag but that felt like too much so I went with something a little more neutral but that still “worked” with the look.

It’s currently 1 AM and I head to San Francisco in a few hours (eeeek!). I just got home from The Hamptons a few hours ago and had to do a quick unpack-and-repack shuffle to get ready for my early morning flight. I’m going to go to bed now, but fingers crossed I hear my alarm (sometimes I can be quite the zombie…)
