Hotel Ella Review

Y’all probably saw on Instagram or Snapchat, but a few weeks ago Lisel and I traveled to Austin for the If: Gathering Conference (and omg, I still need a full post on that amazingness but that’s for a later day). Austin is such a cool city – and my college town, so I obviously I love it! It was nice to be back, the conference was great, and staying at Hotel Ella was the icing on the cake.

Hotel Ella is a small boutique hotel (there are only 47 guest rooms), which is right up my alley. It was sooo cute and just a few miles from lively downtown, so it was super easy to walk around for coffee or whatever. Located in one of Austin’s historical landmark estates, everything from the wrap around veranda and cabana lined pool ooze with Southern charm – it’s a VERY Instagram-ish hotel if you know what I mean. They should probably shoot a movie here, too.

The hotel also features really cool modernist art – most of it done by Texans which is fun, right? The rooms are super cozy, with custom designed furniture and warm colors – and lots of natural light – that make the space feel really comfortable and charming. We were pretty busy so didn’t spend a ton of time in the room, but it was the perfect spot to recharge. I thought the decor was pretty adorable too – how fun are those lamps?!

and the bathrooms were great too! That’s always something I like to see before choosing a hotel so I wanted to include a photo for y’all just in case!

Honestly, one of the most amazing parts was that the hotel’s restaurant was so so good. Like, so good that Lisel and I had practically EVERY meal there! It was delicious and the decor and general vibe were ideal for our girl’s weekend. For dinner, the menu has great selection of small plates, sandwiches, and main courses, including the Brick Chicken which was my absolute fav. And I won’t even get started on the drinks. If you’re there for breakfast, I thought the morning glory smoothie was the perfect way to start the day and get in some nutrients after our major food intake all weekend, lulz.

You’ll also need to check out the Ella Parlor Bar for a nightcap. FUN! The sleek leather chairs with brass details have a total modern-meets-speak-easy look, and I felt very cool being there.

Something else that makes the Ella really special is that there is a HOUSE CAR (yes you read that right) that guests can use to explore the neighborhood and some of Austin’s best attractions – including Austin’s world-famous music scene! I really enjoy simple luxuries like that at hotels because it makes your stay just way easier, especially for trips when you don’t know the city layout or whatever.

I’m in Austin every so often and I can’t wait to give Hotel Ella another stay! And see that Brick Chicken again…
