Hey y’all, back with another business casual option today! This is one of my favorite “business” looks I’ve shot yet actually. It’s comfortable as heck and incorporates a few of my favorite things (sweaters, pencil skirts, and high heels). It’s totally appropriate for work – the skirt hits my knees and the sweater is fitted yet not skin tight, and I like that this outfit still looks and feels feminine. I’ve gotten some questions about how to dress business casual in fall (and winter), and I think – slash hope, lol – that this look pulls it off.

Just because you’re headed to the office doesn’t mean you can’t live in sweaters during fall and winter. A classic sweater like this is great to have for work AND play, and pairing it with a pencil skirt is a perfect option to dress it up for work. Also, can we talk about this sweater some more? I’m obsessed with this color and the fit, and love that the wrists aren’t restricting. I think fun printed trousers would work well with it, too. I tucked the sweater in to feel less frumpy and to make the whole look more on-trend. Don’t forget about the tuck-in trick even for work outfits! I basically tuck every single top in when I’m getting dressed to decide if it looks better or not. SO many times it does – unless it’s super bulky material – and shows off the body’s shape better.

I let the sweater be my statement piece here (well, and my bag) and kept everything else pretty basic and neutral. Since it’s a turtleneck I didn’t do any big jewelry because turtlenecks already have a lot going on in the neck region. I like the contrast of the black pumps instead of nude heels here, especially for colder months. Plus, I think my feet would have gotten lost or looked too “light” on the bottom with nude heels (if that makes sense?). In other words, the outfit needed the contrast or “heavy-ness” of a dark/bold color on bottom (i.e., the shoes!) I’d throw on some skin-colored tights if it was freezing out, and I’d bring a leather jacket to “cool” this outfit up for drinks after.

What do y’all think?
