Everyday Makeup Routine: Complexion Essentials

Y’all have probably picked up that though I talk about beauty here and there on the site, I’m not one of those girls who lives and dies by makeup. Some girls love getting done up everyday or wearing heavy makeup, and I’m just not one of them. Much like my style, I’m all about everyday looks that can translate from a meeting, to church, to hanging with friends – and I don’t necessarily like looking overdone. Plus, I’m ALWAYS always looking for ways to make my routine go faster…aka I’m kinda lazy that way.

After lots of great feedback from sharing one of my favorite tinted moisturizers a couple weeks ago, I thought I’d put together a post that covers all things FACE. Like, the items I use pretty much everyday to set the base for other makeup. And honestly, some days I’ll just use these items to make my face look presentable, and then I’ll maybe swipe on  mascara. Basically, these are the products that take me from bed face to not scaring ppl on the street ya know? And they work REAL well.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Moisturizer – OK, y’all know I’m obsessed with this (and if you didn’t, I wrote a whole freakin’ post on it, so yeah, I’m kinda in love. I won’t go on forever because I’m pretty sure I’ve told y’all a million times, but basically, it’s this shizz. It makes you glow, smells good, all the things! This stuff is my jam, and it’s the first thing I apply after washing my face in the morning. Makeup glides on SO well after applying this.

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Gel – If you’ve been reading the site for a while, you know I’ve gone through pretty much ever bronzer on the market. I really have. This is my fave for making me look alive, literally. It adds a natural glow without looking like I got a bad spray tan, and it really makes me look awake (even when I stayed up to 3 a.m. answering DMs, oops). Such a saver for dull winter skin too omg.

L’Oreal Pro Glow Foundation – I’m a big fan of finding drugstore makeup that actually works as well as expesnvei products, and this is one of them. I like to have some foundation on most days, especially if I’m doing a full face of makeup. This covers the redness on my nose pretty well, and is light enough where I don’t feel cakey. Honestly one of my favorite foundations EVER and it’s so affordable.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder – I actually went YEARS without using a setting powder, then I eventually used setting spray which are OK, but sometimes they make me look greasy – and I hate how wet some are ya know? I honestly only use a TINY bit of this on a fluffy brush and apply BEFORE adding more face makeup. Like I basically set the foundation and bronzing gel with this powder and then keep going (if I’m wearing more than just face makeup). It’s not too matte, so it doesn’t look like powder face, but it sets everything sooo nicely. I know it helps my makeup last, too.

It Cosmetics Undereye Concealer – This wakes up my face like WOAH. It’s amazing what concealer under your eyes can do for your whole face, and I wear this even if I’m just going to grab coffee in my pajamas. I kinda don’t know how I lived without it before, y’all. I apply it in one shade lighter than my skin and it makes my eyes pop (and covers things like dark circles very very well). Plus, it doesn’t crease!

Bobbi Brown Under Eye Cream – I usually apply this when I’m applying my moisturizer, then I let those things set before applying anything else. But I always use this every single night, even if I forget it in the morning. I’ve noticed such a difference since before using it, and it makes it much easier to apply makeup since fine lines and dryness have gotten better.
