3 Ways to Dress Up Your Athleisure Look

Hi friends! Y’all know I love dressing up and feeling fancy, but just as much as I love a good luncheon look, I equally love wearing athleisure. Probably more if I’m being honest – especially since I work from home! Give me a good pair of sneakers and some workout pants and a basic tee and I’m good to go! However, sometimes I want the comfort of activewear, but I have to look just a little more put together, which is exactly what I want to talk about today. This is a situation I find myself in A LOT, so I thought y’all might too?

I wrote this post last year on pulling off the athleisure look and thought the three tips below could add to it! I hope you agree and find this post helpful!

Add a Jacket

OK, so one of my most-worn outfits is probably some kind of workout pant with these black Nike tennis shoes. I’m obsessed with these black Nike Tanjun  tennis shoes and this is such a good basic pair to always have in your closet (for working out in or going to brunch). Plus I think there’s something super chic about black tennis shoes – anyone else get that vibe? I picked them up at DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, which is pretty much shoe heaven. You can find so many different styles there, but I especially love their sneaker variety.

Anyway, onto the jacket situation! If you find yourself needing a quick way to add a touch of sophistication to your laid back look, grab a cute jacket! Moto jackets are classic and can dress up any outfit in my opinion. I really like the black on black look mixed with the Nike sneaker. It makes the outfit feel more intentional rather than just quickly thrown together.

Add denim

I am here to officially bust the no sneakers with jeans myth! I’ll admit I used to question whether or not this combo worked, but I think these pink Adidas VL Court  sneakers (also from DSW) paired with a black pair of denim and a coordinated a pink jacket proves otherwise. Don’t you think? (side note: I had originally styled this look with black denim – which is why I’m talking about denim here – but then shot it with these leggings! It looks cute either way if you ask me!)

For the second denim look, I put a jean jacket on top and styled joggers with these beige Converse All Star Lift Platform Sneakers. This is something I would run errands in, go to brunch or even head out on a day date with Mystery Boy.

Accessorize

The number one thing that I think can dress up sneakers and activewear is accessories. I’ll wear my everyday necklace that you always see me wear in Insta Stories, a cute hat, a bag (did you know that DSW has tons of bags to choose from too?), my watch or even throw on a ring. Don’t be afraid to mix your more elevated pieces with a laid back sneaker look. I think the contrast creates a good balance for the outfit overall. But my favorite accessory to pair with athleisure is sunglasses!

What do you think? Lemme know if this was helpful and gave you some inspo!

Thank you DSW for sponsoring this post! As always, all opinions and content are my own.
