Cobbler’s Cove Hotel Review

As most of you might have noticed via my instagram and snapchat, I spent last week at Cobbler’s Cove Hotel in Barbados. And as I’m sure the photos speak for themselves, it was absolutely beautiful and such a nice breath of fresh air.

As I start to travel more, I’m committing to reviewing at least one hotel for each city or location I visit so that eventually there will be a sort of  mini travel resource on BTD for you to reference when planning your own trips! That being said, I want to dedicate today’s post to telling you ALL about Cobbler’s Cove Hotel and my experience in Barbados.

Overall Experience

Cobbler’s Cove was unlike any hotel I’d ever visited. The boutique feel of the property made for such a relaxing and tranquil escape from everyday life. The hotel is tucked away on a calm and quiet beach in Barbados only 40 minutes from the main airport (“bridgetown”). The ocean-side suites are an ideal home away from home decorated to tropical perfection with touches of colonial old english charm and cottage-style decor. The overall feel of the hotel is exclusive and peaceful and feels like your very own private island paradise.

Getting To Barbados

We took a 5 am flight out of Dallas, stopped in Miami and then arrived in Barbados around 1 PM. It was the perfect time to get there because it didn’t take long to get checked in and settled and we were able to have almost a full day at the pool. If you’re flying from Texas (or probably most places in the U.S.), then you’ll have to fly into Miami first so you can either get to Barbados at 1. The alternative was to get there at 9-ish PM, which isn’t ideal if you ask me!

After a short 45 minute trip from the airport, you arrive to these fabulous, enchanting gates that welcome you to Cobbler’s Cove Hotel. This is where the gasping begins as the beauty of this place only gets better and better – all the way to the crisp, clear ocean and sunny blue skies.

One of my favorite parts about traveling and visiting new hotels and resorts is the part when you first get to the property and get to look around for the first time. If you’re like me, then you’ve probably already done a little research and have a general idea of what the place looks like, but it’s always so exciting to see it in real life and experience if for yourself.

And then on top of seeing everything for the first time, it’s always fun to see what different little details certain resorts and hotels do upon your arrival to make your welcome. For instance, at Cobbler’s Cove you’re welcomed with scented, cold hand towels and are escorted to the bar for a “welcome drink” of your choice while the bellman brings your bags to your cottage.

Pool & Beach Areas

When I was considering whether or not to make the venture to Barbados (it’s pretty far!), I think the thing that sold me about getting to visit this hotel was the pool area. I know that sounds silly (maybe?) but YOU GUYS, it’s amazing! And trust me, the pool scene is just as relaxing and jaw-dropping in person too. I LOVED the quaint feel of the area and the Beverly-Hills-esque coral and white striped umbrellas and towels.

Not only is the atmosphere to die for, but the lovely staff at Cobbler’s Cove frequently make their rounds around the pool and sundeck area with fresh cold hand towels and spoon-fulls of ice-cold sorbet (I got to try 4 or 5 different flavors while there – so yummy and refreshing). I wish I would have gotten a photo for y’all but you can image, it’s quite the treat.

The hotel is positioned RIGHT on the beach so if you’d rather spend your time on the beach, you’re literally only steps away. I actually preferred the sundecks though because I could get drinks and have a nice chair to lay out on. But if you’d prefer spend more time on the beach, the water is GORGEOUS and the perfect temperature!

Rooms & Accommodations

We stayed in one of the ocean front cottages and as I’m sure you can imagine, the view was AMAZING. If I had to sum up the vibe of the hotel in just a few words, I’d say it was quaint, relaxing and simple (all good things of course!)

Our room had me at THIS ocean view and these adorable wicker chairs. This little patio scene took my breath away and I couldn’t wait to camp out in this very spot all week!

Each suite includes a sitting area, open patio (like you saw in the photo above), his-and-hers bathroom and a kitchenette with a fridge and supplies to make tea. They’re all also decorated with a colonial style that stripes a perfect balance between old english charm and tropical island decor.

Here’s a little peek into our bathroom – how cute are the robes? I basically lived in these and loved how lightweight they were. And you can only see a little bit of it, but I LOVED the closet doors with the mirrors on them.

Another look at the view from our room – this is the sundeck that’s right up on the ocean and is (obviously) perfect for catching some rays.

I was able to spend an afternoon in one of their premiere specialty suites (I think there are 2 total) and I just feel in love with the decor of the Camelot Suite. How pretty and perfect is that blue and white?!

CUISINE

The food at Cobbler’s Cove is – like everything else at the hotel – nothing short of exquisite! The hotel’s chef, Jason Joseph does an amazing job of keeping the menu short and sweet with island-fresh dishes catered to the season.

The Camelot Restaurant is in the main building and has a premier ocean front location. We ate most of our meals here except for breakfast (which we ate in our room). If you plan on eating most of your meals at the hotel, they have “package” options you can opt in for when booking your room. But either way, you can charge everything to your room so you don’t have to carry your credit card around with you.

I was pretty spoiled during my stay and got room service delivered every single morning. It was my absolute favorite part of the day as I loved getting to enjoy the quiet morning time, feast on the yummy breakfast food and look out at this view. I’ve got a smile on my face just thinking about it :)

Each day we looked forward to eating lunch (and dinner most nights) at the Camelot Restaurant (located in the main building) and ended up trying or sampling just about everything on the carefully curated menu.

Each day there’s a featured special that incorporates the day’s fresh fish caught by Cobbler’s Cove’s very own local fisherman, Barker. I ended up ordering the ‘daily catch’ on two different occasions and it was DIVINE both times.

On one of the nights we were there, we ventured off the hotel property and had dinner at The Cliff Restaurant. The hotel manager, Will, set everything up for us and made us a reservation. It was so yummy  but let me just warn you, this place is EXPENSIVE.

The club sandwich (above) was for sure my favorite lunch choice of the week! I loved it so much that I ended up ordering it two more times during my stay!

Decorations & Main Lobby Areas

Every square inch of the property (both interiors and the gardens!) is charming. I loved the touches of colonial decor throughout the hotel. The cottage charm decorating style really added to the boutique, exclusive feel of the hotel – and it also just felt more comfortable and like an actual home!

cobbler's cove pink hotel

But this pink and white building though…is it not amazing? When I first got there and saw the colonial-esque style pink buildings, I was instantly in love and felt like I was traveling back in time to an old english estate. In fact, the main house of the hotel (where the restaurant, bar and seating areas are) actually used to actually be a plantation home to an old sugar cane planter.

Staff & Service

Another thing that stood out to me about Cobbler’s Cove is how nice everyone was – they did such a good job at making us feel welcome and comfortable. The hotel manager, Will, goes above and beyond to make each and every guest feels special and enjoys their stay.
