#BESTILLBEBRIGHT MOVEMENT

I’m super excited to launch the #beSTILLbeBRIGHT movement to you all today! I’ve created a separate page for it that I hope you will all check out! I can’t wait to hear what you all think!

OVERVIEW – WHAT IS THE #BESTILLBEBRIGHT MOVEMENT?

What is the #beSTILLbeBRIGHT movement? I’ve tried sitting down to write this little overview several times and haven’t been able to finish. I try and sum up what I want to accomplish and simply can’t do it! I end up just getting frustrated with “writer’s block” and tell myself I’ll come back to it later. But I’m putting my foot down! No more walking away. I think the reason why it’s so hard to explain what I’m trying to do with this “movement” is because I can’t really define it in words; and I honestly don’t want it to be something that is easily definable. It’s okay that this social media campaign or movement (or whatever you want to call it!) doesn’t fit into a perfect, neat and tidy little box. Right? I hope that I can simply introduce you to the hashtag and that YOU all can run with it and make it into something more.

All in all, though, the #beSTILLbeBRIGHT movement will hopefully become another way brightontheday (BTD) can engage, entertain, and inspire you on a daily basis.I hope to promote the importance of practicing daily, spiritual discipline [be still and know!] as well as encourage you to live a life of truth and light [let your light shine!].

I encourage you to use the hashtag to show other BTD readers how YOU motivate and discipline yourself to “be still” – what does your quiet time look like? How do you keep yourself motivated? And/or how do you hold yourself accountable?

In addition to sharing your quiet time experiences with us, I hope that you will also feel inspired (and empowered!) to let your light shine – to live a LOUD life for Christ and to love as He loves all of us.

Don’t feel limited – use your creativity and make this movement what you want it to be (keeping in mind the big picture, of course!) I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

In my personal walk of faith, one of my biggest struggles is simply holding myself accountable to spending time with The Lord amidst the craziness of daily life. Whether you’re new to your faith or have been going at it for years, I think it’s safe to say that we could all use a little encouragement when it comes to not just finding but actually making the time each and every day to dedicate to nothing else but God.

And trust me, I understand that in this day and age, devoting ourselves to one thing, and one thing only, for even just 5 minutes is incredibly challenging. I can honestly say that making the time–and actually following through–is a battle I face daily. I get it; I really do.

And so this is why I wanted to start this “movement”. In an effort to find a way to motivate and commit myself to daily devotionals/prayer time/quiet time, I’ve done a number of little things to help keep myself on track (all of which I can hopefully share with you eventually). But I also want to know what works for you! And hope that you will share your experiences and daily walk through this campaign by using the hashtag.

I could talk for days about all the positive and meaningful reasons for why such spiritual disciplines (namely, prayer and spending time in the word) are crucial to a joyful and fruitful walk with the Lord, but I’m not here to preach! Instead, I simply want to motivate you in your own walks.

I hope to inspire and hopefully promote daily quiet time through the sheer power and togetherness-effect that is modern day social media. We all instagram and/or tweet on a daily basis (right?), so I figured why not do so (at least when it’s a faith-based “gram” or tweet) with a collective and powerful purpose?

This leads me to the hashtag I’ve come up with to hopefully engage some of you in this faith-based movement.
