How To Wear A Poncho Shawl

Capes and ponchos are one of my favorite things to wear during Fall and Winter – they’re just SO easy to throw on and can easily elevate almost any simple look. If you’ve ever wondered how to wear a poncho shawl (or whatever you want to call these “cape things” lol), there are SO many ways you can wear one!  If we take a step back and consider poncho shawls/capes in general, I love them for a few reasons:

  • they’re easy to dress up and down depending on the occasion and/or the look you’re going for.
  • you can wear them as a simple addition to  your outfit, as a shawl over a dress, or as a statement piece to center your outfit around (if it’s a wild print or something)
  • they’re so comfy and cozy!
  • can easily transition from Fall to Winter with layering

I fell in love with this poncho (or is it a cape? what’s the difference? lol I don’t really know and I think everyone uses the words differently) the second I saw it because I knew the neutral col,or theme would be really easy to work with when it comes to putting together multiple outfits.

In this outfit, I wore this particular poncho shawl (cape “thing” lol) with jeans and OTK boots (would also be cute with stilettos or booties!), but just this Sunday I wore it to church with a brown shift dress and booties! I also think it would look cute with jeans (or leggings!) and a white tunic or tee. Like I said, a good poncho shawl is super versatile and can be worn so many ways! I would just recommend getting one with versatile colors so you can wear a few different hues with it!

The Cider Mill in Stowe, VT

I wore this outfit to the cider mill while Lisel and I were on our Northeast road trip a few weeks ago. Our first stop was in Stowe, VT and a bunch of the locals (plus a few of y’all on snapchat!) told us we HAD to go to their cider mill. And we were NOT disappointed. We ended up going there all 3 morning while we were in Stowe because we loved the cider & doughnuts SO much. We loved the patio area (where we took these photos) and since the weather was so perfect while we were there, we woke up craving the experience each morning. Plus, we’d both take our books/bibles/journals and have a mini quiet time while enjoying our cider and doughnuts! I imagine it’s just as awesome during ski season too! Speaking of our Northeast trip, I’ve got Stowe and Manchester city guides (as well as a few other posts from our trip) coming your way next week – so stay tuned!

These OTK Boots Are On Sale!

I wasn’t going to post this until next week, but I quickly changed my mind when I realized these OTK boots are on major sale. I snagged them during the #NSALE and they sold out the first round but have recently been restocked and are marked down again! (woohoo!!) I have a feeling they’ll sell out fast, so I wanted to crank this post out before they did! They’re a great pair of boots – for day or night. I wore them to tailgate with friends the other weekend and was on my feet for over 7 hours and had ZERO issues, which is saying a lot for a heeled boot! Plus, I get compliment every single time I wear them! All in all, they’re a great purchase and a Fall (and most likely winter) go-to!
