How To Wear a Bodycon Dress

Bodycon dresses usually scare me and are always a little tricky. Maybe I’m being self conscious, but I feel like my figure doesn’t really work with them – or I have to be in a really good mood or find just the right cut to make it work. So I thought it would be an interesting spin on today’s blog post to talk about how to wear a bodycon dress when you’re feeling a little self-conscious about being too showy with your figure.

Anyone that has a bigger-ish rear can tell you that wearing tight-fitted things takes lots of confidence and can be a bit tricky (or maybe I’m alone on this one? lol). And for me, it’s even worse because I don’t really have hips (bless my future pregnant soul!), so my rear is accented even more when I wear anything bodycon. Maybe it’s just me, but I HATE how it looks and always feel a little riské.

So let me tell you my secret, which you might have already figured out by now from the photos :)

I’ll usually wear a cardigan or something around my waist to take some attention off the tightness. Like in this outfit here, I’m wearing a denim jacket around my waist – a chambray shirt works just as well (and sometimes even better since it’s not as bulky as a full-on denim jacket). In my experience, the bodycon fit is typically more of an issue when it’s tight ALL the way down past my knees and around my thighs – I’m fine with it being tight from my waist up.

and these shoes have been SUCH a basic for me so far this season if you haven’t already figured that out since I wear them so often! For reference, I’m wearing size 7 which is what I usually wear!

What about you? Have you ever tried tying something around your waist and do you feel the same way about bodycon?

I want to hear what you think and if you have similar struggles or thoughts!
