Washington DC Trip

Before diving into all the details from my Washington DC trip, I wanted to do a quick list to give y’all a summary/overview of all the places we went – some of which are featured below with more photos and thoughts.

DINNER/LUNCH/COCKTAIL SPOTS:

The Hamilton (right across the street from The W) – awesome atmosphere and amazing food (I talked more about it below)

The W Rooftop for drinks – such a cool view y’all! It’s an awesome spot to grab drinks. We were there when it was pouring down rain, but I can’t wait to go back when it’s nice outside and I can actually see the awesome view.

Rose’s Luxury – I actually went here last time I was in DC, but it’s worth mentioning because everyone (seriously, everyone) raves about this place and they’re right, it’s amazing. But it’s one of those places where you have to be committed to going. They don’t take reservations and so if you want to get “on the list”, you have to literally go wait in line at 3PM (they don’t even open until 4!) and put your name on the list for that night. Since it was raining most of the time we were there, waiting in line didn’t really seem appealing (we did however drive by…and yes the line was even STILL extremely long!)

Il Calale – this little Italian spot is located on 31st street in Georgetown (right by where I took the picture of the Canal above) and y’all it’s SO YUMMY. Rebecca and I went there for Dinner Monday night – I got the gnocchi and it was AMAZING.

Ri Ra Irish Pub – I went there while shopping in the M street area and got the hummus because I was starving. I actually got lucky and ended up visiting right during their happy hour :) I sat by the window and it was great! I love getting to watch the people walk by (who doesn’t love to zone out for a good people-watching sesh?!) I posted the photo of my hummus in the post below as well.

Ri Ra Irish Pub

Provision No. 14 – this place had an awesome envrionment but I wasn’t crazy about my food; however, hope loved her veggie omelette! (maybe I need to give this place another shot!) Here’s a photo of our food below.

Provision 14 brunch

Fishers Farmers Bakers – a must go spot for dinner or brunch. This is another one of those spots that EVERYONE tells you to visit. Hope and I went here Saturday night and it was (of course) so yummy and super fun. We didn’t have a reservation so we just sat at the bar, but I sometimes prefer that anyway. Here’s a random photo I got of our food below – not the best quality, but you can tell it’s yummy!

COFFEE SPOTS

Baked & Wired – everyone raves about this spot. And I think that’s why I wasn’t crazy about it…because there was a long line and there weren’t very many options for what to eat. Maybe I just went at the wrong times (but I’ve actually  been there 3 times and wasn’t blown away….just to be honest!)

Dolcezza – by far my favorite coffee spot in DC for a number of reasons. I want to specifiy that I liked the gerogetown location much much better than the dupont circle one. The Dolcezza in dupont circle has essentially zero seating…so we actually went there and then didn’t even get coffee because there was no place to sit! I really appreciated all the seating available (and the natural light!) on the 2nd story of the Gerogetown location – it’s a dream!

La Columbe Coffee Roasters – probably my FAVORITE spot to see, but I still think Dolcezza is my favorite spot to actually post up and work for a few hours.

Peregrine Expresso – awesome coffee but not the best environment. There’s not much seating inside and since it was raining, we couldn’t sit outside. but the coffee was amazing! Here’s a photo of my lattee that I took :)

Okay and now for the actual blog post. Let me know your thoughts on this post. Honeslty, it took me 3x longer than usual to put this post together (not sure why), so I am really curious to hear what y’all think about it! Please please do comment or shoot me an email to let me know if you enjoyed it or have any suggestions or feedback! I LOVE hearing from you all! xo, B

One of the nights I was in DC, my friend Hope and I met up with one of my best friends from college (Rebecca – the one in the center). We had drinks at the rooftop bar of the W (SUCH a cool spot! with an incredible view!) and then had dinner across the street at The Hamilton – SO yummy! The atmosphere was great and the food was even better. I got the Rigatoni and it was DIVINE, but then again all 3 of us loved everything we ordered.

The 4 photos above are from the afternoon that Hope and I spent exploring the national arboretum.

It just so happened that the weekend we planned to go up there (to Dc and Baltimore) was the weekend of that hurricane that hit a few weeks ago – so it was pretty dreary the whole time we were the in the area. But even still, it was an awesome city! and we kind of liked the rainy weather to be honest :) It made for a much more relaxed “feel” and so we didn’t feel lazy when we took things SUPER slow.

Enjoying a Lattee at La Columbe Coffee Roasters – probably one of the coolest coffee shops I’ve ever been to! If you’re ever in DC, you should definitely try and spend some time at this spot

Wore this outfit to church on Sunday at Redemption Hill Church – love this spot! I always visit this church when in the DC area (it’s an Acts 29 Church)

Outside Library of congress

We had to do SOMETHING touristy, right?! I’ve been to DC several times and got all the tourism stuff out of my system (thank you high school field trips), but this time I was traveling with my good friend Hope and she wanted to explore the city. I’m glad we went! I don’t think the Library of Congress could ever really get old – it’s SO neat and the details are endless.

The Westin Hotel bed // Brighton The Day

The first few nights we were there, Hope and I stayed at The Westin Georgetown (get the brussel sprouts from room service .oh, and the cheesecake is pretty clutch too…) and it was really nice! But then we wanted to stay in another part of the city as well – so we moved to a hotel in Dupont Circle :)

The Fairfax Hotel in DC

After staying at The Westin, we moved onto the Fairfax in Dupont Circle. It was walking distance to so many cool spots (including Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe which you’ll see a few photos of below)

Quick snap from roaming around Dupont Circle

Sweater (shop similar below) // Necklace // Ann Taylor Perfect Shirt (here why I love it so much + more photos in this blog post) // J. Brand black skinnies // Tina Pumps (under $80 – I love these and it’s a short heel so they’re comfy to wear walking around…seriously though)

Inside Kramers Book Store in Dupont Circle

Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe (in Dupont circle area – walking distance from the Fairfax hotel) is a great spot for spending the afternoon/morning because not only is it a book store and diner-type restaurant, but it’s also a coffee shop. So as I’m sure you can imagine, it’s a great spot to post up for a few hours :)
