We’ve all heard of the the industry’s leading sister brands: Red by Valentino, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu by Prada, and Lauren by Ralph Lauren to name just a few. We love them because the same mastermind designer (whether that be a couture designer or an upscale contemporary one) is behind them, but with a new vision and typically a better price point! I’m excited to introduce you to COBALT by DK DESIGN, now available at Neimans Last Call online and in stores!!!
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve noticed that it’s easier for me to wear pointed toe shoe to work simply because they seem to look better with work-ish attire (e.g. pencil skirts and trousers). But I have SO many cute round toe shoes and not so many pointed-toe ones, so I had to find a way to make them work and look right. It could just be personal preference, but I’m not a fan of rounded-toe shoes with flared or even wider-leg trousers or pants; straight leg, though, is another story–it sometimes works. I’m mainly talking about rounded-toe wedges because I have worn the “Valerie” (by dee keller) shoe with a pencil skirt (see this post) and it looked fine!
But as you can see in this outfit, you have complete shoe (toe) freedom when you pair them with pencil-style (or just skinny around the ankle) pants. What do you think? Have you ever run into this issue or thought about it before?
I’ll admit, this “look” is a little bold for me, but they sure are comfortable! And here’s another GO at mixing patterns! I’ve been having lots of fun with it! I can’t believe Christmas eve is THIS coming monday! As usual, the time sure does fly by!! This entire year has just slipped away from me! I leave on January 6 for two weeks of training and I’m 110% positive that my life will be a zillion times different once the new job sets in and the whirlwind of responsibilities and tax season take over my life.
As of right now, I hope to be able to keep BrightonTheDay going. On the other hand, though, I HAVE to be realistic. I haven’t quite figured out how I will balance everything, but I know that my role and efforts behind this blog will need to be adjusted. I’m thinking the most practical and reasonable approach would be to post 3-5 times of week, rather than my current post rate of about 6-8. What do you think? Would you still follow along? Your thoughts and reactions mean everything to me AND the future of BrightonTheDay. Please don’t hesitant to leave a comment or shoot me an email! (Don’t be shy!)
I hope you all have a nice, relaxing holiday with your friends and family! xoxo
Hey there! I’ve got some pretty awesome news for you all today! Dee Keller Design has agreed to giveaway a pair of shoes (The Audrey!) to one very lucky reader! These smoking slippers are right on trend and would definitely add a little something special to your shoe collection. I have a pair and have already worn them a few times with several different outfit and color combinations. I love the red accents on these slippers – especially the tassels!

but for now, here are some pretty pictures I had done for the site. I wanted the website to be minimal, clean, and straight to the point: THE SHOES. My vision was for them to tell a story. I hired a photographer to shoot the shoes and instructed her to place them in an urban setting that was both glamorous and realistic, with a little bit of a rustic feel (if that makes sense? haha). I told her that the sky was the limit – “if you see a trash can that inspires you, prop those babes on it and take a shot! We might be surprised!” haha! and I must say that she did an incredible job and it’s obvious, now, that she understood exactly what I was talking about!
Let me know what you think! I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.
I’m finally back in my little home in NOLA! woohoo!! Did everyone have a good week?! I hope so! Ive decided (I think) to take the next week or so off from studying. This last test kind of took the life out of me, so I need a little time off before I dive into the next one. I think I’m going to do a lot of painting and maybe eventually put some of my pieces on the blog to sell! Thoughts?

So, if you’ve been watching the news (or even if you haven’t), you should be aware by now that there is a big, angry tropical storm on it’s way to the gulf coast states. And as of right now, it is projected to hit New Orleans. Ironically, it’s supposed to hit Wednesday, which is the 7 year anniversary of Katrina. Given the mad chaos and insane traffic that will result if the Mayor suggests/mandates evacuation (or even if the storm advances), I went ahead and made the hour-long drive back home to Baton Rouge. I figured I’d better be safe than sorry. My test is still Thursday, though, and this whole evacuation has really thrown a wrench in my study schedule! CRAM time. I hope you have a great Monday!
