Loving The Athleisure Wear Trend

sportswear lux trend, moto AYO leggings, adidas allstar sneakers, topshop olive green moto jacket, celine phantom bag, casual chic outfit, bomber jacket outfit

I don’t know about you, but I am SUCH a fan of this oh-so-hot athleisure trend that’s been taking over the fashion world as of late. As someone who works from home, I’m always looking for an excuse to get away with wearing any form of comfy workout clothes IRL (in real life – ha!) aka outside of actually working out. So I wanted to dedicate a post to chatting with y’all about it – to see what ya think, introduce you to it (if you’re like…wait, what? that’s a thing?) and talk about how to pull it off for yourself.

So what is it? Well as I’m sure you can deduct from the name “Athleisure” – it’s basically a combination of athletic and leisure wear merging function and style and comfort! I feel like it all started with lululemon back in the day – the pioneer of fancy workout wear. And then over the years, it’s become somewhat of a phenomenon to look cute while working out and wear performance wear as everyday wear. And all I’m saying is, I’m totally on board!

Pulling off this accelerated casual look that is athleisure takes a bit of thought, but it’s mostly just about mixing sporty basics with your everyday, casual go-to items that you’re already wearing. Like in this outfit here, I’m wearing my moto leggings with one of my favorite everyday sweaters and my new bomber jacket. I actually have a workout top on under the sweater but thew it on to run errands since it was so chilly outside.

I think the key to pulling off the I-just-went-to-the-gym-and-now-I’m-running-errands look is to keep it practical and invest in a few good-lucking sporty chic items. Plus, I think that any sporty outfit paired with these Adidas allstar sneakers is going to be a winning combo – they’re just so stinkin’ cute if you ask me! It really only takes one (fancy-ish or non-gym) piece to dress up an entire outfit; so I think accessorizing your look can go a long way!

Aside from this look, I wanted to share a few of my favorite go-to items I grab when putting together a sporty chic slash athleisure-ish look like this one: my zella black leggings are great for working out and also double for basic leggings outfits in general (they’re the ones I was wearing in just about every outfit for my how to wear leggings blog post!); I’ve been wearing my vince warren sneakers (size down 1/2 size) on REPEAT lately and have found myself throwing them on with leggings and an oversized sweater a lot lately! They really do MAKE an outfit if you ask me – I have them in 2 colors!; I also love wearing sporty t-shirts like this one by adidas because they’re easy to style and look cute if you ask me! Plus, can you ever have too many t-shirts? I’ll include a few more cute go-to athleisure pieces to shop in a widget below!

What about y’all? Have you ventured into wearing your gym clothes out and about? If so, what do y’all think about the trend?
