Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

what to wear to thanks giving - 4 different thanksgiving outfit ideas

Let’s talk Thanksgiving outfit ideas, shall we?!

Whether you’re hosting a laid-back ‘Friendsgiving’, lounging on the couch (and watching football #duh) or headed home to wine and dine with the ‘rents, I’ve got your thanksgiving outfit situation covered. I’ve put together a few thanksgiving outfit ideas to get you thinking. Hopefully, these looks will inspire you to create a similar look with things you already own (#score!) OR be the reminder you need to snatch something up while you’ve still got enough time for shipping.

Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that looks different for every one and every family, but one thing’s for sure: there will be lots of eating yummy food. And as such, a stylish outfit that’s both comfortable and appropriate is necessary. Or maybe your family wears PJs for Thanksgiving (like mine does sometimes! ha), but even still…don’t you want to look somewhat put together? So in the spirit of being comfy AND cute on Thanksgiving, I’ve put together a few outfit ideas to inspire you.

Start brainstorming now, so you’re not scrambling the morning of or packing last minute!

This first look is super comfortable (and cute!) and is sure to allow room for that extra serving of turkey. I’ve actually tried this dress on and it doesn’t fit super tight, which is perfect! Riding boots and a plaid scarf make for a festive fall look and then adding the pop of color in the lip and the puffer vest tie it all together if you ask me. I love the print of this plaid – it’s perfect for Fall!

The next two looks both feature jeans but tell two different stories – I’d say the first is more laid back and comfortable and the second has a more of a trendy yet polished vibe to it. It really just depends on the overall vibe of group and what you’ll be doing.

If your family/friends are more into the ‘comfy casual’ look and will most likely be eating on paper plates, then I would go with an oversized sweater and simple booties (Outfit No. 2). On the other hand, if your family actually sits around the table with place settings (and real/dishwasher-requiring plates), then I would maybe go with the plaid shirt and fur vest combo (Outfit No. 3)!

Like I mentioned above, outfit No. 3 has more of a ‘put together’ look to it but is still casual and comfortable nonetheless. This outfit would also be cute with black pants or jeans!

And then for those of you who don’t mind wearing skirts, I put together a fun layering option. Personally, I could never wear a skirt to our Thanksgiving because we spend a lot of time lounging around…and I don’t know about you, but I HAVE to be sitting indian style or at least with my feet on the couch in order to be comfy. Anyone feel like that?! But I guess if we were going out and about or having a more formal celebration, I’d be down with waring a skirt. But you’ll most likely find me in my go-to look: oversized sweater and skinny jeans!
